EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:  Enforcement will be increased regarding the requirement for dump trucks to properly tarp their loads when hauling gravel.  This measure is in place to ensure the safety of all road users by preventing debris from falling off trucks, which can create hazardous conditions and cause environmental damage. All operators are reminded that failure to comply with tarp regulations may result in fines and further penalties.  Please ensure all loads are accurately secured to avoid these consequences and ensure you are following the statute regarding this matter:

 

189.150   Escaping contents -- Shifting or spilling loads. (1) No vehicle shall be operated upon any highway unless it is so constructed as to prevent its contents from escaping. (2) No vehicle shall be operated upon any public highway for a distance of over one (1) mile whose load is susceptible to shifting or spillage unless said load is covered with a device suitable for prevention of spillage.
